At The Eye Cancer Foundation, our continued goals are motivated and achieved entirely through the support of our members, donors, and visitors of our website. Every cent made towards saving sight, every well-wish received through comments or letters, has championed great developments in the field of eye cancer research and care. With projects like The Visionary and The Doctor-Reported Outcomes Initiative, much of our work involves making scientific information clear and readily available to the public. This is why we are answering all questions regarding the new data privacy regulations established by The EU General Data Protection Regulation and how your personal information is recorded into our website.
As of May 25, 2018 and after four years of preparation and debate across the EU, The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has taken effect. According to the GDPR resource website:
“The EU General Data Protection Regulation replaces the Data Protection Direction 95/46/EC and was designed to harmonize data privacy laws across Europe, to protect and empower all EU citizens data privacy and to reshape the way organizations across the region approach data privacy … The GDPR not only applies to organizations located within the EU but it will also apply to organizations located outside of the EU if they offer goods or services to, or monitor the behavior of, EU data subjects.

Donation Privacy:
The ECF is primarily funded through individual donations by supporters through our donate page. There, we collect your name, address, email address, and credit card information in order for this donation to be made. Your credit card information is securely made through Flipcause, which is this website; it will not be stored and used for any purposes outside of your ECF donation. Your name and address is used in order to send to you a contribution receipt of your donation, while giving you the option to permit whether or not the Foundation may add your name to our Annual Donor Directory. The Directory is used exclusively by The ECF Board as a means of contact with past contributors; this information is not sold or rented to any third party.
Physician Directory:
The ECF is proud to have established a directory of eye cancer specialists around the world, so that patients can find the nearest doctors available to them. This information is made available by eye cancer specialists personally adding their profiles to the Physician Directory through this link. These doctors create profiles through ECF-exclusive email addresses and add their name, education, social media, and contact information. This information is used only by The ECF Board, who publish these doctors to the Directory online so that patients may find them. This information is not sold or rented to any third party.
Subscribing to The Eye Cancer Foundation Newsletters:
We seasonally publish our digital newsletter, The Visionary, which is made publicly available by visiting our websites. Supporters of ECF can receive the latest editions of The Visionary by subscribing to our free Newsletters we send via Bloomerang. Your email address is secured and used for no other purpose other than sending informational emails from ECF board members. At any time, you may opt out of these subscriptions.
