Biography
Mr Sachin Salvi is the Head of the Sheffield Ocular Oncology Service, one of the four designated National Eye Cancer Treatment Centres in UK.
He practices as Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in Ocular Oncology as well as Oculoplastic, Lacrimal, Orbital and Cataract Surgery. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer and the Ophthalmology lead for the Academic Unit of Ophthalmology and Orthoptics University of Sheffield Orthoptics Degree Course.
He has trained extensively in India, UK and USA. His Fellowship training in Oculoplastics, Lacrimal and Orbital Surgery was at Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield and Moorfields Eye Hospital, London. His Ocular Oncology training has been in Sheffield and Cole Eye Institute, USA. He is a member of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society, International Society of Ocular Oncology, Ocular Oncology Group (Europe) and overseas member of Oculoplastic Association of India.
He has a large research profile and is regularly invited to speak as expert faculty to various national and international meetings and has various award winning presentations and publications including book chapters to his name. He was a key core members of the UK National Uveal Melanoma Guidelines committee.
He is Director for the Fellowship Training Programme in Ocular Oncology, Oculoplastics, Lacrimal and Orbital Surgery at Sheffield. This is an internationally renowned Fellowship training programme providing comprehensive training and a number of his Fellows has gone on to become Consultants at prestigious Hospitals around the world.
He is involved in voluntary ophthalmic work in other countries such as Trinidad and Tobago and India. His sporting passion is cricket and is a key founding member of the Sheffield Medics Cricket Club currently playing in the first division of the Yorkshire and Derbyshire league.
