Associate Professor Petr Soucek, MD., PhD.
He was born on 15th May 1965 in Kolin, Czech Republic.
He graduated on the Faculty of General Medicine of Charles University Prague in 1989. He worked at the 1st Eye Department of General Faculty Hospital in Prague from the same year until 1995 as a resident. He had an appointment as Assistant Professor at the Children Eye Department of the 2nd Medical Faculty of Charles University from 1995 to 1997. He worked at the Eye Department of Kralovske Vinohrady Faculty Hospital from 1997, as a consultant in the beginning and then as an associate head of the department. This job was terminated in 2010 (de facto) and in 2013 respectively (de iure). He works in the Centre of Clinical Ophthalmology and in the Pardubice County Hospital from 2011 till now. He cooperates with the Department of Stereotactic and Radiation Neurosurgery in the Hospital Na Homolce in Prague from 2000 till now. He was employed by the Digital Angiography Reading Centre in New York, US as a grader from 2006 to 2008. He presented lectures at the Ophthalmology Department of Institute for Post-gradual Medical Education and at the 2nd and at the 3rd Medical Faculties of Charles University from 1994 to 2007 and at the Czech Technical University in Prague from 2000 until now.
He received the 1st degree in Ophthalmology in 1992 and the 2nd degree in 1996. He did PhD studies on the 3rd Medical Faculty of Charles University from 2003 to 2005. He became an Associate Professor at Hradec Kralove Medical Faculty of Charles University in 2007.
He is specialised to medical and surgical retina, intraocular tumours and imaging. He performed more than 3000 intraocular operations. He became holder of the Ionising Radiation Sources Management Certificate issued by State Office for Nuclear Safety in 1999 and of the Good Clinical Practice Certificate in 2002.
He is co-writer of the bilingual “Atlas of macular diseases”. This book received the Price of The Board of the Czech Medical Association. He is an author or a co-author of 6 chapters in Czech books and of 1 American one. He published 34 original articles (19 of them in journals with impact factor).
He is a member of the Czech Ophthalmology Association and of the International Fluorescein Club. He is a president of the Czech Macular Club. He is an editor for ophthalmology in the Open Medicine and member of editorial board of another two journals.
He was a co-investigator of two grants and a principal investigator of 8 international clinical studies.
