During his training, he learned best practices in techniques such as ocular oncology, cornea and anterior segment, glaucoma and orbital tumors.
CLEMI: Centro Latinoamericano de Entrenamiento en Cirugía de Mínima Invasión
On December 5, 2023, a full day of activity, conferences, orbital, eyelid and lacrimal direction and surgical approaches was held at CLEMI with the collaboration and organization of a great team of nurses and instruments. Dr. Daniel Suárez Acosta had this to say about CLEMI: "The hands-on practice at CLEMI was completely productive and enriching, allowing me to identify and practice relevant anatomical aspects in a detailed and completely real way. Also, it allowed me to approach different techniques on the ocular adnexa and some other orbital areas. I appreciate the magnificent guidance of our instructor in practice, Dr. Alberto Calle, who led us to make the most of this session for a full day. I thank him for his interest in our learning and the patience that these hard days require. It was a wonderful, productive practice with the best possible company and staff. I only have thanks and appreciation to The Eye Cancer Foundation headed by Dr. Paul Finger for giving us the opportunity to those who made this great session possible, and of course my mentor Dr. Alberto Calle." |
ECF Fellow in-training, Dr. Paola Ordoñez Armijos says: "I want to say thank the ECF for the opportunity you gave us. Doing hands-on surgical training in CLEMI was an experience that was very fruitful. We practiced numerous procedures including eyelid reconstruction, orbital approaches, and enucleation. I strongly believe this kind of training is very helpful in recognizing anatomy and developing surgical skills. I sincerely appreciate the effort the ECF constantly puts forward to support us as Ocular Oncologist in training. That effort will be reflected in the quality of care for our patients." The Eye Cancer Foundation is proud to support Dr. Daniel Suárez Acosta as he starts treating patients at his home facility in Colombia. Dr. Alberto Calle has been instrumental to the foundation as a training physician, and we are beyond pleased with the partnership that has ensued between the ECF and Calle Ophthalmic & Orbit Oncology Center!
