Diffuse Iris Melanoma is Treatable with Ophthalmic Plaque Radiation
Petousis et al reported in Von Graefe's Archive of Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, that a patients with diffuse iris melanoma underwent definitive treatment with palladium-103 plaque radiation therapy.
Published on December 14th, 2010 [Epub ahead of print], the case describes a 73-year old with multifocal iris nodules that were FIT biopsied to be malignant melanoma. At one years follow up, her vision was reported to be 20/25, the tumor has partially regressed and there are no significant complications.
