Javiera Araya Cohen, MD, came to The New York Eye Cancer Center and completed an International Observership under Dr. Paul T. Finger!
This fellowship lasted from July 14, 2022- August 14, 2022. During her one month here, Dr. Javiera observed Dr. Finger and learned a variety of new skills and techniques to bring back to Chile. About Dr. Javiera Medical school was at the University of Chile (2011-2017) Residency of Ophthalmology at the University of Chile (2018-2020) Fellowship in Oculoplastic, orbit, and lacrimal surgery at the University of Chile (2021) Experience in The New York Eye Cancer Center My experience in the eye cancer center was excellent. Dr. Finger is an outstanding physician and professor. It is incredible how much I have learned from him only in one month. The people in the office are kind; everyone there helps each other to offer the best care to all the patients. Every patient I saw in the clinic was pleased with the care received by Dr. Finger and his team in ?The Eye Cancer Center. |

I would also want to highlight that since my first day at Dr. Finger’s office, he encouraged me to do a challenging study. He has been a great mentor on giving me the tools and showing me the path I needed to follow to develop it, given his vast experience on Research in many fields related to Ocular Oncology. Ocular Oncology During my period as a physician in Chile, I noticed there were so many patients with eye cancer. Before coming to the Eye Cancer Center, I did not have all the necessary tools and knowledge to treat properly these patients. I was very surprised with the results of the treatments that Dr. Finger had with his patients and the wide set of alternatives that he was capable of offering them. I am very grateful for having the opportunity to learn from Dr. Finger and his team. This has been my first step into Ocular Oncology and I am looking forward to deepen my knowledge is this field so I can provide the right answers and deploy the best treatments possible for my patients in Chile. |
