Dr. Finger Introduces His Y-90 iWand to Tulane University's Ophthalmology Department!
July 1, 2026: After years of serving underserved communities around the world, The Eye Cancer Foundation has decided to focus on a new center closer to home: We found that the deep southern region of the United States is an underserved area. Therefore, working with Tulane Medical School and LCMC, our own Dr. Finger has offered to help Tulane build a full service Ophthalmic Oncology center. Working with our past fellow Ankit S. Tomar MD, they have started treating patients as featured on New Orleans’s local CBS broadcast.
In this video, Dr. Finger is interviewed about this new incision less plaque procedure! Here is a piece of the article:
“A local hospital is only one of four hospital systems in the country to have a groundbreaking and simple treatment for eye cancer. That’s because it is a local doctor who invented the quick treatment, that requires no surgery, and no down time. Dr. Finger invented, then manufactured the iWand, when radiation therapy and ophthalmology companies turned him down. It is simply placed on her eyeball for several minutes. Drops numb the eye while a light sedative helps patients relax. In just one visit, the patient’s two tumors were dead.”
